Charles Rennie Mackintosh Ash & Petroleum Velvet Hill House 1 Chair by Cassina
Originally designed by renowned Scottish architect, designer and artist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Hill House project in 1888, the Hill House Chair 1 is a true icon of the Art Nouveau era.
The design of the chair was modified by the designer in 1903 to elongate the backrest and this is the model that Cassina began to produce in Italy from 1985, remaining in production today.
Constructed from solid ash in a black lacquer finish, the chair has a linear silhouette finding the perfect balance between intricate design and minimalism.
The exaggerated ladder back runs all the way to the floor and is finished with a contrasting gridded panel at the top, while the angular seat cushion is upholstered in petroleum green velvet.
A fantastic example of classic Art Nouveau design, the Hill House 1 chair is a statement piece that would make a bold addition to any contemporary living space.
