Originally designed in 2018 by Norwegian designers Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll, the AV1 and AV2 dining chairs form part of the Pavilion collection, manufactured by Danish furniture brand &Tradition.
The commission for the collection was for a mass seating design for the multi-purpose venue Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen which was rebuilt in 1958 after being destroyed in the war.
The architects’ Eva and Niels Koppel’s new design was an homage to modernism. The lightweight chairs are constructed from a black tubular steel frame with a curved seat and backrest in black lacquered oak veneer.
The AV1 design has no arms and can be stacked, making them highly practical, while the AV2 design has curved armrests in tubular steel to seamlessly integrate with the rest of the frame.
This set of 8 Pavilion dining chairs consists of 6 AV1 and 2 AV2 models making it the ideal set for a large dining table.
